Enjoy the historic town of Arundel by candlelight this December

Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, Arundel is a beautifully preserved medieval town and boasts some of the finest architecture to be found on the South Coast of England. With an ancient castle at its heart and unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside, Arundel truly is a jewel in the crown of the South East of England.

As we rapidly approach the festive season, what better way to get yourself into the spirit of Christmas than visiting Arundel by Candlelight? Discover this beautiful 18th-century town from a new perspective and explore the quaint back streets and cosy local pubs as you take in the festive atmosphere.

Taking place over two days, Arundel by candlelight runs from Friday the 7th of December through to Saturday the 8th and is an event for all of the family. The Friday sees a number of community events and will include a children’s lantern procession, which will see pupils from the surrounding schools taking part, whilst there will also be local choirs on hand to sing carols to add a further layer of festive atmosphere. Alongside this, there will be a service from the three churches in the town and the all-important tree lighting ceremony which will see the large Christmas tree in the market square illuminated with the rest of the town’s trees.

The Saturday sees an extension of the festivities with events taking place from 12 noon and running right through to 9 pm. Saturday will see a variety of entertainment which includes live music, performers in the main square and a fun fair in the car park close to the river Arun. Adding further fun to the festivities there will also be an ice rink set up in Jubilee Gardens alongside a range of stalls and other festive attractions.

Local pubs and cafes will be open along with the town's restaurants which features a range of cuisine including Indian, Italian and Chinese food alongside more traditional pub favourites from the towns many public houses.
