March Events

3rd March – Tim Broadbent at the Willows Folk Club, Arundel. An exciting appearance from this amazing singer, guitarist and entertainer. Tim plays a mixture of classic folk, blues, and even hints of country, mixing songs by writers such as Bob Dylan and Jimmy Buffet with traditional material and self-penned numbers, all presented with his outstanding stage presence, energy and gift for entertainment! Don’t miss him!


5th March – 60 Minutes of Classical Music at Regis Centre, Bognor Regis. Works by Brahms, Alan Richardson, Arthur Bliss, Gordon Phillips and Dirk Bosse will be played by Anthony Jennings (clarinet and bass clarinet) on his return visit to the 60 Minutes series. His musical credits include chamber ensembles such as Melos, Park Lane Group and Athena as well as BBC contemporary music groups under the direction of Pierre Boulez. He will appear at the Regis Centre alongside 60 Minutes of Classical Music resident musicians Roger Clayden (cello) and Andrew Rowe (piano).


6th March – Arun International Women’s Day Celebration at Tamarisk Center , Littlehampton. There will be dancing, singing, arts and crafts from many nations, games, therapies, workshops, displays, activities for children and delicious food with an international flavour. Entrance is free and open to all women and children. Special theme this year is FOCUS ON AFRICA - Women's Direction and Power. There will be many opportunities to learn about projects and campaigns led by women to improve the lives of their communities in different parts of Africa and to find out what we can do to help. Some of us are Mothers, all of us are Daughters, together we are Sisters.


7th March – Clowns Parade at Butlins , Bognor Regis. Parade of about 90 clowns, all members of Clowns International, led by Bloco Fogo Samba band. Parade leaves Butlins Day Visitor Entrance at 14.00 and travels along seafront and then through the town centre before returning to Butlins at approximately 16.00. Lots of music, colour and jollity for a March day.


10th March – Open Stage Night at Willows Folk Club, Arundel. One of the famous Come All Ye - Open Stage Nights, home to a wealth of local talent playing all sorts of styles! Performers and audience both welcome. No mics, no amps, just pure acoustic music!


10th March – Cheltenham Festival Preview Race Day at Fontwell Park Racecourse. There is a seven race card sponsored by Betfair. A fantastic opportunity to preview Cheltenham Festival from the panel of racing experts in the Parade Ring Marquee.


13th & 14th March – Experiment Weekend at Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre, Amberley. Scientific discovery for families through simple experiments for National Science and Engineering Week.


13th & 14th March – Beginning Wildlife Photography Course at Arundel Wetland Centre. A 2 day workshop with top wildlife photographer, DAVID PLUMMER.


13th March – Recital by Irina Kulikova at Regis Recital Hall, Bognor Regis. Irina Kulikova is an outstanding Russian guitarist who has won many international prizes. Currently studying principal guitar at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Professors Matthias Seidl and Marco Tamayo, she has already dazzled audiences at the West Dean International Guitar Festival and WSGC with her virtuosity, and has matured into a performer of enormous warmth and vitality.


17th March – St. Patrick’s Day Special at the Willows Folk Club, Arundel. A special celebration of the very best Irish songs and instrumentals on St. Patrick’s Night! Featuring two great acts each performing a 45-minute set. The Village Band are one of the most popular Celtic groups in Sussex, showcasing some of the best-known songs from the Irish folk tradition, and perform with an energy set to get every foot tapping. Mal Simms & Jules Bell were two of the founder members of legendary local Celtic band Legacy, and are reuniting especially for this gig, teamed with multi-instrumentalist Steve 'Tunemaster' Lane of Pied Merlin frame!


17th – 20th March – Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling at Woodlands Centre, Rustington. Rustington Players bring you a play about the close-knit women at Truvy's Beauty Salon, in Louisiana, who have lots of time to gossip. Consequently, visitors get more than a wash and cut. The play focusses on the cameraderie of these six Southern women, the 'steel magnolias' of the title, through the best of times and the worst.


19th March – Gerry Across the Mersey at Regis Centre. Sixties icon Gerry Marsden will be taking the audience on a musical journey through his life and times. Gerry and The Pacemakers topped the British and American charts for much of that decade with hits which are still instantly recognisable. Their tunes included How Do You Do It, I Like It and football’s most famous anthem, You’ll Never Walk Alone. Gerry’s continued popularity means he continues to tour extensively in the UK and abroad to delight thousands of people each year with his famous show. It provides them with an unmissable roller coaster ride of music, fun and nostalgia.


20th  March  – Arundel Farmers Market in Arundel Town Centre. Arundel Farmers market offers you a wide range of local produce, including: Fruit & vegetables, bread and cakes, flowers and plants, meat and poultry, dairy produce and more. Convenient Car Parking at Arundel Lido.


20th March – World Storytelling Event at Look and Sea Centre, Littlehampton. Come and hear magical stories to celebrate World Storytelling Day in the atmospheric Viewing Tower Look, listen & see at the Look and Sea! Arun U3A - Story Tellers will celebrate this WORLD “Themed” Event. “2010” Theme is 'Light & Shadow.'


20th March – Family Race Day at Fontwell Park Racecourse. This is one of the most popular Family Race Days. Free entertainment for young children, including face painting, pet’s corner and bouncy castle. There will also be an appearance from popular children's TV character Sportacus. This fixture will be supporting and raising money for Sport Relief.

25th – 27th March – Over The Rainbow at Regis Centre. Classic Disney musicals will be brought to life by young performers from the Bognor Regis area. Over The Rainbow with 300 Art of Dance and Fitness pupils features a host of family favourites. Excerpts from The Lion King, Pocahontas and Mulan will join with songs and scenes from older shows such as Pinocchio to present a celebration of music. The performers are the junior members of the Art of Dance and Fitness. They are aged from four to 11 years old.


27th March – Concert by The Angmering Chorale at Arundel Cathedral. The Angmering Chorale present 'Requiem' by Verdi. Conducted by George Jones and accompanied by Sinfonia of Arun with soloists.


27th March – Easter Egg Hunt at Look and Sea Centre, Littlehampton. All children are welcome to turn up to the Look and Sea Centre any time between 2pm & 4pm Each child may find the clues and choose from a selection of lovely Easter eggs.


30th March – Easter Race Day at Fontwell Park Racecourse.


31st  March – Ray Hedges + Peter English & Magda Taylor at the Willows Folk Clib, Arundel. Extended sets from some of the finest local talent around! This latest Showcase Special features two more great acts!


31st  March – Tony Stockwell at Regis Centre. A unique evening is in store when psychic Tony Stockwell demonstrates his belief in the afterlife. He will endeavour to give proof beyond doubt of the eternal nature of the human spirit by providing evidence and changing lives forever. There will be plenty of fun and laughter along the way in a night which will be deeply compelling and often startingly accurate. Tony has become one of the UK's best known mediums through gaining experience for more than 20 years. He has worked all over the world and has a series of UK tours to his credit.
